Rules & Regulations
To Be Read In Conjunction With Individual Section Rules
- Entries will be accepted only on this condition, that the Society is not held responsible for any accident or damage by or to any exhibit and owners shall accept responsibility in this respect.
- If the Stewards are of the opinion that any exhibit is not the bona ide property of the exhibitor or that the particulars, as stated in the entry form, are not correct, such exhibit shall not be eligible for a prize.
- Intending exhibitors must place their entries in the hands of the Secretary within dates to be ixed by the Committee of the Show and unless complied with exhibits will be refused.
- No single exhibit shall be entitled to more than one irst prize, except in certain classes ixed by the Committee. Horse sections specially excepted.
- In the competition for prizes, no irst will be given unless there are two exhibits, and no second unless there are three, except where the judges unanimously (giving their reasons) recommend on the merit of the exhibit. The judges may withhold any prize where the exhibit does not merit an award in their opinion, giving their reasons for same. They may recommend for "Certiicate of Merit" any exhibit of special merit or excellence for which no prize is offered in the Schedule.
- Any exhibit appearing with medal or label, or distinguishing badge or brands (other than brands on livestock) prior to the prizes being awarded, will be disqualiied, nor can any badge be worn subsequently other than that awarded at the Show, always subject to the ruling of the Committee or the Stewards.

- OVINE JOHNE'S DISEASE (Sheep or Goats)
The owner/s certiies that they are aware of Johne's disease, and that Johne's disease is not known or suspected in any susceptible animals on land where the animals have been maintained.
All animals must come from a lock/herd with 5 or more ABC market points or are risk assessed prior to being accepted by the Ranger and Stewards.
Animals from MAP locks will not be brought into contact with other than MAP animals at Wentworth Show.
Completed Animal Health Statements are required, and must be given to the Head Steward upon arrival BEFORE the UNlOADING of stock for risk assessment.
Animals may not enter Wentowrth Show from flocks with Suspect or Infected Status
- OVINE BRUCELLOSIS (Sheep)
The owner declares that rams to be displayed are from an Ovine Brucellosis Accredited lock, OR that they are tested with negative results to CFT prior to Wentworth Show.
Test Reports must be given to the Head Steward upon arrival BEFORE UNLOADING.
- FOOTROT (Sheep and Goats)
(Dichelobacter nodosus) is not known or suspected in any susceptible animals on land where the animals have been maintained.
- LICE (Sheep)
The owner certiies that sheep to be displayed have no lice.
WENTWORTH RLPB IS A Protected Area for BOVINE JOHNE'S DISEASE
- BOVINE JOHNE'S DISEASE (Cattle, Goats, Alpaca)
Johne's Disease is not known or suspected in any susceptible animals on land where the animals have been maintained.
Animals that have MN1 or higher Status under an approved Market Assurance Program may enter Wentworth Show without test.
Animals from MAP herds will not be brought into contact with other than MAP animals at Wentworth Show.
Breeding animals permitted to enter a Protected Area may enter Wentworth Show without test.
All other animals must be tested with negative results to ELISA or GDPT prior to Wentworth Show 2006, or provide other evidence of the risk their cattle, goats or alpaca pose.

All cattle must be identiied with appropriate NLIS electronic tags and abide with NSW rules and regulations.
Guidelines for Exhibitors to Prevent Spread of Johne's Disease

A JOHNE'S DISEASE MARKET ASSURANCE PROGRAM (MAP) ACCREDITED SHOW
A. Good Hygiene
- Make sure your livestock carrier understands the risks of spread of Johne's disease, and does not put your animals at risk during transit to and from Wentworth Show. Clean the vehicle out Load and unload to prevent your stock coming in contact with contaminated faeces, food and water.
- Floor of sheds and stalls housing assessed animals will be inspected and cleaned, washed or covered, if necessary, before assessed animals enter the facility.
- Animals will be fed and watered above ground level, to prevent faeces (dung) contaminating their food and water.
- Faecal material will be collected regularly and removed to a place where stock have no access. This is particularly important in laneways.
- Special attention should be paid when cleaning out pens so that animals do not have access to areas, ixtures and bedding that are contaminated by other locks or herds.
- Equipment used for mucking out will be cleaned regularly to prevent build-up of faeces.
- Sick animals will be isolated if Johne's disease is considered a possibility.
B Separation of Non-assessed and Assessed Animals.
- Wentworth Show sites are designed to prevent movement of faeces (dung) and faecal-contaminated food and water.
- There will be at least two (2) metres or a wall between stock from assessed and non-assessed locks and herds.
- All animals need to be adequately supervised to maintain separation.
- Animals are to be restricted to their designated areas by tethering or some other means of restraint, or penning, when not being led.
- Assessed and non-assessed animals must not share watering troughs, washing areas, tie-up points and isolation areas.
Animals may not enter Wentworth Show from herds with Suspect or Infected Status

- Protests must be in writing and lodged with the Secretary within six (6)
hours after the Judges’ decision has been published; and such protest must be
accompanied by a deposit of ive dollars ($5.00), which shall be forfeited to
the Society if the Committee deem the protest frivolous and not proved, the
forfeiture to be at the opinion of the Committee. Should the protester fail to put
in an appearance either personally or by proxy, the protest shall be disregarded.
The same applies to the exhibitor who, failing an appearance, shall forfeit his
right to the prize affected by the protest.
- The exhibitor of any animal or article may be required to produce statutory
declaration as to the age or purchase from previous owners.
- All single exhibits must bear an entry or exhibit ticket, same with a pen, pair or
collection. In all classes of disputes as to the construction of rules and regulations
or by-laws, the same shall be determined by the Committee, and their decision
shall be final.
- Any person can show non-competitive exhibits, subject to order of the Committee.
- No person shall be admitted while judging is proceeding, except the Stewards and Secretary.
- All exhibits must be in position and ready for judging at the time printed at the beginning of each section.
- The Committee reserves the right to increase, add, adjust or supplement the prizes or trophies allocated to any class or classes.
- Vendors of exhibits, either by auction or private treaty, must pay an amount 10% of such sales to the Society.
- Should the Society postpone, alter or cancel the Show, no refund of entry money will be made, but same will be retained as a donation to the Society’s funds.
- All prize money to be collected after 5.00 p.,m. on last day of Show at Secretary's Ofice.
(17a) All prize money not collected with in fourteen days of the last day of the Show shall become the property of the Society and retained as a donation to the Society.
- In all cases the term "Junior Farmer" will include "Young Farmer".
- Pavilion exhibits are not to be removed before 5.00 p.m. on the Sunday of the Show.
- Stewards must be in attendance at the Showgrounds at the appointed time to receive the exhibits and are responsible that the exhibits are correctly classed,
all exhibits placed in each section together ready for judging, and direct Judge to the exhibit he was appointed to judge.
STEWARDS
- Stewards must supply Judge with award book of each respective class and will
attend on the Judges to afford any information required, but will not say or do
anything to inluence their decision. They must not reveal the name of the owner
of any exhibit or repeat any remarks the Judges may make to each other.
- Stewards will obtain prize cards and write the name of the successful exhibits
thereon, and afix same on exhibit bearing the entry number of the award book;
they will obtain the award book of the Judges when judging is completed and
be responsible for delivery to the Secretary after afixing prize cards.
- Should there be any reason to suspect that any exhibit is either diseased or
dangerous, the Stewards have the right of refusing admittance or removing the
exhibit from the grounds at the expense of the exhibitor.
