• Please read the schedule carefully as it is the exhibitor’s responsibility to see that an exhibit is entered in the correct class. Any exhibit entered in wrong class will not be judged. Pavilion will close at 4.30 p.m. on Sunday 25th August 2024. Articles to be collected after 5.00 p.m.
EMBROIDERY DEFINITIONS
Needlework Tapestry (Canvas Work) Stitching covers the complete surface.Worked on embroidery canvas-single or double thread or even weave fabric, with cross stitch, half stitch petit point, any other canvas work stitch/or combinations.
Petit Point Petit Point is worked on fine canvas, linen or gauze, with a count of not less than seven threads per centimetre, the background
need not be stitched.
Counted Work These embroideries are worked by counting the threads of the fabric. Such techniques include Assisi Blackwork, Pattern Darning,
Pulled fabric, Drawn thread, Cut and drawn, Hardanger, etc.
Cross Stitch Cross Stitch is a separate technique.
Surface Stitchery Surface Stitchery refers to all embroideries worked freely across the surface of the fabric without the necessity of counting
threads.
WEAVING DEFINITIONS
Interlacement of threads to create a structure that is stable, and able to maintain shape. Woven methods can include –
Freeform Weaving – using frames of cardboard, wood or metal etc. Woven shapes/pieces are created in a random, free flowing and creative manner.
Frame Weaving – using frames such as tapestry frames, bed frames or similar to support the weaving process.
Peg Loom Weaving – using pegs to hold the warp threads and adding weft threads to build the structure.
Loom Weaving – using weaving looms to hold and to assist in lifting the warp threads so that weft threads can be inserted.
