Section W – Farmer’s Challenge Competition

Competition to be held on Sunday 27 August 2023 (time to be confirmed).

RELAY EVENT WITH TEAMS OF 4 PEOPLE
LEG 1: SHEEP SHEARING
– Put on a blue singlet
– Pick up wool (fleece)
– Carry a ball between legs (pretending it’s a sheep)
– Put sheep in a box
LEG 2: GRAPE CRUSHING
– Pick some grapes off a bunch
– Crush the grapes in a bucket and stomp on them
– Strain the grape juice into a glass
– Carry glass on tray to the end
LEG 3: TRACTOR DRIVING
– Put on mini tractor (made of wood and cardboard)
– Put on a flannelette shirt and hat
– Run to the end but at a marker the tractor breaks down
– Fix tractor – piece of wood with nuts and bolts on them
– Pick up a biscuit of hay and run to end
LEG 4: HORTICULTURE
– Pick and squeeze oranges into a glass, fill to the line on glass
– Rake, pick up and then shell almonds
– Then spread the grapes, to make dried fruit, package up some dried fruit and almonds into a bag, then carry the bag and the glass of juice on a tray to finish line

ENTRY CATEGORIES & PRIZE MONEY:
– 10 years and under – $80.00 per team of 4 (first prize only)
– 11 – 14 years – $100.00 per team of 4 (first prize only)
– 15 – 19 years – $160.00 per team of 4 (first prize only)
– 20 years and over – $200.00 per team of 4 (first prize only)

All teams of 4. All props and accessories will be provided.
Heats will be conducted (if needed) for each age group and the winner of each heat goes to the final.

Entry Fee: Teams 14 years and under $4.00 per team; Teams 15 years plus $10.00 per team

How to Enter: Show Day Online (https://showday.online/) by Friday 25 August 2023. Entries will also be taken at the Secretary’s Office at the Showgrounds by 10.00am Sunday 27 August 2023.
